Medical Care
Medical care at the clinic includes routine check-ups, treatment of acute and chronic illness, hearing and vision screenings, immunizations, lead screenings, referrals to specialists, and preventive dental services. The CHS team of pediatricians, nurse practitioners and nurses work as a team alongside nutritionists and family support workers. There is always a physician on call at night or over the weekend.

Nutrition Services
The CHS nutrition staff provides nutritional guidance and education to clients and their families. It is the goal of the nutritionists to help children reach their full capacity for growth, development and overall health through better eating habits and food choices. Common challenges are infants with poor weight gain and adolescents battling obesity. Nutrition services maintain an emergency food pantry and often connect client families with community food programs. Nutritionists also offer teen cooking classes and other hands-on learning experiences.

Social Services
Family support workers are responsible for assessing the social strengths and needs of clients and developing plans with families. They are a part of the clinic team and assist with follow-up on the recommendations of Medical and Nutrition services. A family support worker will help find affordable housing, transportation and childcare services – issues that face many CHS clients. In addition, social services offers a car seat program, bicycle safety clinics, and helps clients access enrichment activities such as summer camp and after school programs.
